TRANSMEDIA 2017

DEVELOPMENT / DESIGN

END OF YEAR SHOW

Our course has an annual event towards the end of the university year. It's called the End of year show. The second year students from the university are responsible for planning the show and organising the content to advertise it.
I was part of a team responsible for creating a website for our course's annual end of year show. This was to help advertise the show itself and to provide a hub for people to easily access information on the event. My role in the creation of the website was to come up with the designs for it and do the front-end development.

Inspiration

The design style we picked for the end of year show was a "retro" style, as every end of year show had to be built towards a specific theme. I was handed the colour scheme by another member of my year.
These are some examples of websites that I was looking at for examples on how to approach the design.

INITIAL DESIGNS

Designs

Overall I think that the designs were hampered by the colourscheme but I also think that my unfamiliarity and discomfort with designing for the retro theme led to some detriment to the final product. These were my first two initial designs, I created them using sketch, which is a software similar to inDesign.

FINALIZING THE SITE

After showing these designs to my year, we discussed what we liked from each design and combined those features into a cohesive final design.
